Budleigh Salterton Edwardian photo. album. This is an untouched album of Edwardian photographs. There are a few blank spaces but I’ve resisted the temptation to fill them with photos. I doubt that the loose photos. that were with the album came from it and I think it’s important to be sure. In fact the loose photos. look as if they’re from a later generation and have no connection with the album.
For the benefit of American readers (I know there are some) Budleigh Salterton is a town in Devon, which is in the south-west of England.
It’s good example of affluent Edwardian life. The anonymous family seem to be very comfortable and having a good time but of course one never knows. The dated pictures are from 1901 to 1910. I couldn’t decide which were the best pages so I’ve photographed them all.
I have no knowledge of Budleigh Salterton and don’t know if any of the locations in the pictures are still recognisable.
I bought this photo. album from my friend on the Kent coast. It was with several others and I’m just beginning to list them here after 2 and a half years. I wish I knew more about them.
