Postcards of Port Said. C.1917-20.

Postcards of Port Said. C.1917-20. 6 cards in all. 5 are in very good condition but the one of the market place is torn. I read the date 1917 from the space for a postage stamp where it says, in Italian, the same things that are printed on postcards from Malta. Italy must have had a big influence over the region but that’s another story.
On the back is printed: Edit. The Cairo Post-Card Trust.
These Postcards of Port Said are not real photographs but coloured lithographs of black and white photographs. They are not hand-coloured but as part of the lithographic process.
They have not been posted and have no marks where they’ve been mounted in an album.
I’ve been to Cairo a few times but have never been to Port Said. I know that it’s been a major tourist destination or port for 200 years so I don’t suppose that these postcards are particularly rare but I’m sure that it’s very different 100 years or so after these cards were printed. Postcards of Gibraltar. C.1910-20. I’ve started to list postcards from places other than Europe and this is an example. I have more and I will list them over the next few weeks. I’m not sure that there are any more from Egypt ‘though.
