The Hairy Ones. Mobilised.

The Hairy Ones. Mobilised. Les Poulis. Mobilisation. Real Photograph postcard, c.1916. It’s in very good condition but starting to chip at the edges. I’ve seen this before with old photographic postcards and I think it’s something to do with the developing process. It does show in the photo. and I don’t think it’s going to get worse.
Now, I’m on dangerous ground here and I expect that there are a lot of people out there who know a lot more than me. As I understand it: Les Poulis (the Hairy Ones) were an elite fighting force. Note that they all have moustaches, at least. They sound like a cross between the Royal Marines and the SAS. They became famous for the way they fought at Verdun in 1916. The term:”Mobilisation” means “Ready for Action” and I would date this card to about 1916.
I don’t have anything else like this listed on this site but I do have other Real Photograph postcards: Hazeley Down real photograph postcard, postmarked 1915. and Cycling real photograph postcard, c.1910.

I knew nothing about Les Poulis. Mobilisation, until I listed this card and I suspect that it’s unusual.
Looking online for similar postcards, I’ve failed to find anything like it but there’s a huge range of cards on http://eBay.com that changes constantly.
