Postcard of a pub. interior. Hastings, 1906. Not a real photograph, this is printed on rather floppy card. It shows the Lounge in the Queen’s Grand Saloon, Hastings. It strikes me as strange that there are drinks on the tables but no customers. Slight creases to corners. Postmarked in Hastings, 1906.

He must have been pleased with it in order to have it photographed but it looks a bit unprepossessing to me.
I know that Hastings was and remains a popular tourist destination. I know a chap who goes there every year for a holiday and a tour of the local antiques shops.
I’ve just looked online to see if there’s still a Queen’s Hotel in Hastings http://historymap.info and there is! It seems to be flourishing and has a distinguished history. I feel ashamed that I know nothing about it. I’ve never even been to Hastings.
