Easter Greeting postcard, c.1905-10.

Easter Greeting postcard. Embossed, gilded and chromo-litho. printed postcard. Probably of German manufacture because it’s so good. The best printers in chromo-litho. were in Germany. English companies such as Raphael Tuck had printing works in Germany. This card dates from c.1905-10. It’s in very good condition. Written on the back in pencil by a child. It could easily be rubbed out if wished.
Easter Greeting postcards are more unusual than Christmas or New Year cards at this time. Perhaps they still are. I have a couple more listed in the website: Easter postcard, 1904for instance.
When I first started to collect postcards in about 1970 this sort of card would have been what I was looking for. I spent happy Saturdays at Camden Passage marvelling at the large number of postcards I wanted to buy but couldn’t afford, mostly because I was still at school. I liked anything chromo-litho., especially embossed and/or gilded. This card has all three. I still like them but, as I’ve said elsewhere, I’m enjoying real photograph cards more and more. I’ve been told not to visit Camden Passage now because there’s no antique market nor antique shops. I suppose we all look at the internet these days: http://eBay.co.uk is much too addictive.
