Novelty calendar in the form of a fan, 1878. Chromo- litho. printing on glossy card. Inscr. at the base:\u201dJoseph Mansell, London.\u201d
\nIt\u2019s 4.75 inches long and printed on glossy card. A lot of these British publishers had their chromo-litho. printing done in Germany. This looks like German printing to me. It\u2019s generally of better quality than that of other countries. Maybe it was also competitively priced but I have no proof of that.
\nThe calendar is in\u00a0perfect condition although I doubt that the material bow at the base is original. Calendar, 1926.<\/a> is another novelty calendar I\u2019ve listed on the website. The calendar is unused in that it hasn\u2019t been written on.
\nThis fan-shaped calendar is from my own collection of ephemera but, if I were looking to collect now, I\u2019d definitely keep an eye on http:\/\/eBay.co.uk<\/a> You need to have an eye for what is real and what is repro. and sometimes it\u2019s hard to tell from a photograph. However, if they\u2019re honest vendors it shouldn\u2019t be a problem. I have more ephemera than I realise. Every time I open a drawer I find paper things I\u2019d completely forgotten about.
