Easter Greeting postcard. Embossed, gilded and chromo-litho. printed postcard. Probably of German manufacture because it\u2019s so good. The best printers in chromo-litho. were in Germany. English companies such as Raphael Tuck had printing works in Germany. This card dates from c.1905-10. It\u2019s in very good condition. Written on the back in pencil by a child. It could easily be rubbed out if wished.
\nEaster Greeting postcards are more unusual than Christmas or New Year cards at this time. Perhaps they still are. I have a couple more listed in the website:\u00a0Easter postcard, 1904<\/a>for instance.
\nWhen I first started to collect postcards in about 1970 this sort of card would have been what I was looking for. I spent happy Saturdays at Camden Passage marvelling at the large number of postcards I wanted to buy but couldn\u2019t afford, mostly because I was still at school. I liked anything chromo-litho., especially embossed and\/or gilded. This card has all three. I still like them but, as I\u2019ve said elsewhere, I\u2019m enjoying real photograph cards more and more. I\u2019ve been told not to visit Camden Passage now because there\u2019s no antique market nor antique shops.
