Policeman and Postman Match Strikers.

I don’t know why I like these so much. They have a presence that’s both amusing and touching. Forgive the purple prose, but they’re some way from my usual stock/taste and I think that I’m trying to justify them to myself.

Anyway, they’re German match strikers from the 1900-10 period. They’re made of unglazed pottery and you can see the colour of the clay on the bases. They’re hand-painted but not re-fired so I suspect that the colours may come off if scrubbed.

They have marks on the sides of the bases: F K & Co., Gesetzlich geschutzt and there are various numbers impressed underneath.

They’re in perfect and original condition.

Copeland bone china dish, c1910

A little later in date than I would wish, but I thought that the decorative quality compensated for the lack of age. Well painted and gilded, it’s a very good quality dish. A little over 28cm. wide, it’s in perfect condition.

Price: £68.00

Copeland bone china plate.

This plate is from the same service as the dish, listed separately. Again, it’s very decorative and in excellent condition. I have four of them and, because they’re so similar, I think that they must be painted over a feint printed outline. They measure 23 cms. in diameter and are all in perfect condition.

Worcester Sparrow-beak jug, c.1780.

Worcester sparrow-beak jug, c1780. In perfect condition but, if there was ever a lid, there’s none now. It’s 108mm. high. The print is rather soft and blurred but I like that.

Price: £125.00

Meissen cup and saucer, c.1820-40.

Meissen cup and saucer, c.1820-40. Both pieces are in perfect condition apart from a little wear to the gilding on the rims. There are impressed numbers to both pieces: the saucer has B and 27 and the cup has B81 and 60 (or 09). The saucer has, in under-glaze blue, the crossed swords with the Marcolini star underneath and an initial (not sure what) on the inside rim. The crossed swords have a line underneath and the number 67 in puce. Does this mean that the decoration is not best quality? The cup has the crossed swords and the Marcolini star and the number 115 in over-glaze gilt.

The saucer is 136mm. in diameter.
